

PASTOR BILL BURRELL

The Reverend Dr. Bill Burrell is the Pastor for the historic St. John's Baptist Church in Arlington VA. Dr. Burrell was born in Thomaston, AL and completed his core education from the Dekalb County Public Schools in the state of Georgia. He is an ordained Baptist Preacher, international evangelist, conference speaker and pastoral counselor. He was catechized by the later Rev. Dr. Andrew Fowler, 2nd President Washington Baptist Theological Seminary.
Dr. Burrell was ordained at the St John's Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. John Jasper Nicholas, Jr. He was licensed to preach at the Beulah Baptist Church, Atlanta GA under the leadership of the late Archbishop Jimmie L. Smith. He was consecrated Bishop with Light of the World Covenant Fellowship International and serves as its International Fellowship Developer under the leadership of Archbishop Ruth Smith. He is the presiding Bishop for Global Covenant Fellowship. He is the President of the Tidewater Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. Hampton, VA.
He graduated with honors from several accredited institutions: AS-Management & BS-Management degrees from Park University, MO; AS-Applied Science in Management and MA-Military Operations Art & Science Studies degrees from Air University, AL; MA-Operational Management from The George Washington University, DC and Master of Divinity & Doctorate of Ministry from Howard University, DC. He has doctoral leadership studies from Morgan State University, MD and is a graduate of several military professional schools of Study. He was a 1999 Air Force Intern Fellow. Dr. Burrell was endorsed by the Progressive National Baptist Convention Inc. to serve as a Chaplain in the United States Air Force.
While on active duty, he had 19 military assignments and deployments in support of SOUTHERN WATCH, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, the Grand Folk Humanitarian Relief Efforts, and served as the point-man for the New England Honduras Relief efforts.
Dr. Burrell is skilled in public and interagency relationships, special operations, crisis management, suicide prevention, strategic planning, organizational leadership, staff development, quality assurance, networking, marketing, budgetary and fiscal management, public relations, and has over 15,000 counseling hours. He served as hospital chaplain at stateside bases, deployed and in combat medical care facilities.Dr. Burrell has served as senior pastor of six congregations. In 1999 he was Awarded the Chaplain Merit Award for the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. In 2002 he was selected as the Pacific Air Force Chaplain of the Year. He was awarded the 2014 Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc, Military Chaplaincy Certificate of Distinguished. He is a life member of: the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA); Tuskegee Airmen Inc (TAI) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Prior to being elected as Pastor of St John's Baptist Church he served at the Gethsemane Baptist Church, Newport News, VA under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Dwight S. Riddick, Sr. He is an Adjunct Professor at Hampton University. He is married to the former Natalie S. Mackey of Alexandria VA and they have four amazing children and one amazing granddaughter.
