Ministries
We would like to minister to you, and provide
for you a place to minister to others:
Ambassadors for Christ This is a ministry for young Christian adults who fellowship together through community outreach projects, inter-church
programs and social activities. It is also open to the entire adult church body.
Audio-Visual Ministry
Audio (CD) or professionally-edited video (DVD) copies of St. John's services and special programs are available upon reqest.
Brotherhood Ministry The Brotherhood mission is to contribute to a sound Christian climate for church leaders to enable them to meet the needs of the Church family by
encouraging, enhancing and expanding the participation of men in the church family. The Brotherhood sponsors an array of formal church-wide functions, and informal gatherings and events directed towards male interests.
Christian Education The Church has instituted a number of Christian Education programs such as Sunday School, Bible Study and ministry-sponsored activities. St. John's, in collaboration with the Washington Baptist Seminary, located in Washington, D.C., initiated
the Disciple Developing Institute. Students may enroll in a Biblical Studies certificate program.
Deacon Ministry This ministry is composed of men who have been called to meet the challenge of service.
Having responsibility to keep past history and a commitment to the present with a vision of the future. To support the very essence of the truth of the Bible in word, actions,
and deeds, and embracing Jesus' teachings that the greatest person is one who serves.
Deaconess Ministry The ladies who serve in this ministry are nominated by the Joint Board and confirmed by the congregation. Membership entails
a commitment to the Pastor and church body through service in numerous essential support functions.
Evangelist Ministry Evangelistic Servants mission is to reach out to the lost. To share the Word of God with others wherever they may be and to extend an invitation to visit St. John's Baptist Church.
Hurting, Helping and Healing Ministry This mission provides a forum for discussion and understanding of life's disappointments, frustrations and pains; to enhance and develop spirituality through Bible scripture and Christian Theology; and the sharing
of personal experiences and their impact on our understanding of God.
Music Ministry The Sanctuary Choir conducts rehearsal on Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM. We welcome anyone who has the spirit of the Lord in their heart, to sing His praise, come join us. All are welcome, young and old, novice or experienced. A youth choir
guides youngsters in mastering the songs of praise and singing before the Church.
Praise Dance Team Liturgical dance is an invitational art. It invites us to respond to God with our whole being. It lets us move beyond verbal expressions into a new experience and relationship with God by praising the Lord through dance. (Psalms 150: 4)
Prison Ministry
We minister weekly, on Saturdays, in conjunction with the Chaplain Ministry of Arlington County Corrections Facility, to young men and women seeking to establish and renew their relationship with God, through the salvation of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer) Church members, grouped by season of birth, are provided support and assistance through a variety of group activities throughout the year. Support
is provided for sick or ill members. Seasons also sponsor church-wide events of spiritual and social interest.
Sisterhood Ministry The Sisterhood's mission, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and God's Word is to encourage and undergird sisters in their walk with Christ.
The focus of the ministry is on the sharing of Christ wtih unbelievers, facilitating the development of a spiritually vital church membership, and
performing Christ ministry in the community.
Sunday School Each Sunday morning, spiritually-guided instructors teach the Gospel message. Early elementary to adult-level classes are taught.
Usher Ministry The central role of this ministry is to welcome each worshipper into the Sanctuary to experience the presence of God through the divine worship service.
Youth Ministry This ministry closely monitors and guides the spiritual and social development of young people. An emphasis is placed
or their educational and spiritual development. The ministry also oversees the awarding of scholarships to college-bound youth.
